The Marxist Student Federation (MSF) has kicked off the academic year by signing up hundreds of new students to Marxist societies around the country. The general election result followed by the massive anti-austerity protests and Jeremy Corbyn’s inspiring victory in the Labour leadership contests has radicalised a whole layer of students looking for an explanation of today’s world and an organisation that is ready to fight for something better. Marxist students @ protest against Tory party conference

From the 4th – 7th October the Conservative Party will be holding their annual conference in Manchester. When they did this two years ago, 50,000 people went to the streets to show their disgust at the Conservative Party presence in the city and their opposition to the programme of Austerity that the Conservatives have inflicted on the working class during their time in power. This year’s demonstration, part of a week of Read more…

In our own words: “hands off Corbyn!”

A recent petition that is part of the Defend Corbyn, Fight for Socialism campaign has been gathering support online and in public meetings. We publish below a selection of comments from people outraged at the way the media is treating Jeremy Corbyn – a shameless attempt by wealthy newspaper owners to smear a democratically elected Labour leader who is willing to stand up to them. Scandalously there are people within the Labour Read more…

An open letter to the vice-chancellor of the University of Sheffield

The letter below is a response from the Sheffield Marxist society to this article written by the vice-chancellor of the University of Sheffield, in which he refers to Marxists as “dopey” and claims that Marxism “doesn’t work”. We, as the ‘dopey’ Marxists that you candidly misjudge, felt it was necessary to respond to your ridiculous comments that you posted on the university Read more…

Solidarity from Mexico

Below, in both English and Spanish, is a statement sent to the Marxist Student Federation by our comrades in Mexico. Greetings such as this remind us of what we are fighting for, and that here in Britain we are lucky to be able to organise without overt threats of violence, kidnap and murder by the capitalist state, unlike in Mexico. The greatest contribution we can make to the world revolutionary struggle is to Read more…
