The previous week of #CommunismOnCampus has been huge for us! We intervened in 20 freshers’ fairs. From Durham to Southampton and Loughborough to Manchester Metropolitan, we signed up hundreds of students to the Marxist Societies.
Two weeks on from the outbreak of the revolutionary uprising in Iran, and the movement continues. In every major city, violent clashes are occurring between the youth and security forces, with repression becoming ever harsher. Well over 100 have been killed and many more have been arrested. On Monday, students responded by commencing a strike, which has now spread to over 100 universities!

The Marxist Student Federation had a smashing week last week. This was our biggest freshers moblisation yet, with Marxist Societies present at 25 universities across the country collecting over 1700 sign-ups!
With university budgets squeezed, education bosses are slashing courses and jobs at institution across the country. Workers and students: Unite and Fight!
Unison members in higher education at 22 universities are staging stikes over pay. At the same time, lecturers in the UCU are balloting for action. The scene is set for united struggle by workers and students on campuses across the country.
Week 1 of #CommunismOnCampus
The Marxist Student Federation has always stood with workers in struggle. We were proud to support UCU when they took strike action. Now members of UNISON are having to prepare to strike against a pathetic pay offer from the university employers.

Young people have been affected deeply by the crisis of capitalism. Education is under threat, living conditions are worsening and, as a result, people are getting more angry. That anger alone is not enough, many people want something to change but feel defeated by the prospect of making that change happen. Having the ideas of Marxism, and an organisation of dedicated revolutionaries backing up action, can allow this feeling to be overcome.
Private tutoring companies have profited from the crisis in Britain’s education system. Tutors, taxpayers, and parents have paid the price for this. The unions must unite and fight to kick the capitalists out of education.
