This All Hallow’s Eve – when all through the night the masses stir – the Tories and bosses will be lying awake in their beds. For of late, a frightful spectre has been stalking the land: the spectre of communism.
The Marxist Student Federation (MSF) now represents the strongest and most active student Marxists in Britain. This presents us with an important lesson, to produce and educate new Marxists up and down the country. Here is a report showing the strength of our first few weeks on campus this year!
We have now hit every freshers’ fair we could, spoken to thousands of people about the ideas of Marxism and shown them how to fight against capitalism. This has been a highly inspiring period for us. We have seen the thirst for communist ideas which exists amongst students.
The previous week of #CommunismOnCampus has been huge for us! We intervened in 20 freshers’ fairs. From Durham to Southampton and Loughborough to Manchester Metropolitan, we signed up hundreds of students to the Marxist Societies.
The Marxist Student Federation had a smashing week last week. This was our biggest freshers moblisation yet, with Marxist Societies present at 25 universities across the country collecting over 1700 sign-ups!

In the past academic year we witnessed great unrest on university campuses. The University and College Union (UCU) continued their struggle over decent pensions, pay and conditions with a return to strike action for the fourth year in a row.
Last weekend, young comrades from across the Marxist Student Federation gathered for an inspiring summer school on the life and ideas of Lenin. Marxism is on the march. There has never been a better time to join the struggle for socialism.
Support staff at Leeds University, organised in Unison, are on strike this week, fighting for decent pay. On Thursday 19th we had our final Marxist society meeting of the academic year at UEA, on the events in May ‘68. We had 13 attendees and some completely new faces who were interested in these events. May ‘68 isn’t common knowledge, so it was interesting to learn the history of the movement that happened only 50 years ago and just across the channel!
