Don’t Deport Luqman – Support the Occupation

Bramber House is being occupied by Sussex students to protest the treatment of Luqman Onikosi, a Nigerian MA student, by the University and the Home Office. Luqman’s visa to study has been revoked by the Home Office, meaning he is being threatened with deportation. Poor priced out of legal profession by extraordinary cost of studies

According to the Guardian, the new chair of the Bar Council (the regulatory body for barristers) has suggested that the cost of becoming a barrister is up to £127,000 in various student fees. Over 500 students pledge to join UCL rent strike

Over 500 students have pledged to join the indefinite rent strike declared last month by 150 students at University College London (UCL), reflecting campus-wide concerns over soaring accommodation costs and students’ dissatisfaction with management’s response. Report: Anti-Trident Demonstration in London – Down with Trident, down with capitalism!
