On May 5th, Newcastle Marxists had our first Marxist society meeting of the summer term on the events of May 68.

The meeting was a great success with 8 in attendance despite the exam season!

We garnered support by having on-campus flyering and paper selling sessions before the meeting. This brought 4 new people along to the meeting.

Many did not know the important history of May ‘68 and this gave us a chance to explain in detail the events and what lessons must be drawn from the events that took place in France.

All in all this meeting was very informative as even those comrades who have been involved in the Marxist Society for a long time were able to learn about the inspiring events of May 68!
