Tory education plans: An attack on working class students

According to the Tories’ new plan for university education, applicants who don’t pass GCSE English and Maths will no longer be eligible for student loans. This disgraceful policy will effectively block off a quarter of young people from getting into university.  Not only will many university students have to shoulder lifelong debt, but should these plans go ahead, some will now be expected to pay £9,250 up-front every year if they want Read more…

Child Q: Fight racism and police brutality! Fight capitalism!

Protests have erupted across London in solidarity with Child Q – yet another victim of police racism, misogyny, and violence. It is clear that the Met Police are rotten to core. To end this oppression and repression, we need to end capitalism. Twice over the last week, on Friday 18 March and Sunday 20 March, large crowds gathered in Hackney, London, in support of ‘Child Q’ – a black schoolgirl who, in Read more…

There were four demands for the walkout: full funding for education, accessible education, lifelong education, and democracy in the education system. We fully support these demands.
