The whole world is in the mist of turbulent convulsions. Capitalism as a system has exhausted itself and the capitalist politicians, academics and strategists have no solution to the problems faced by young people today. The case for international socialist revolution has never been clearer.

In one country after another young people are beginning to challenge the establishment and its cronies. Many are drawing revolutionary conclusions. The UK is no different. In the Scottish Independence referendum, during the rise of Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour Party and on recent anti-Trump demonstrations up and down the country we have seen the youth take to the streets and make their voices heard.

This is not surprising. Young people have always been at the forefront of change. They are searching for an alternative to the rule of bankers and capitalists. Conditions everywhere are preparing revolutionary events.

We need to build a revolutionary leadership that will not compromise with capitalism. We believe that for us to be successful the scientific world outlook of Marxism is essential. Marx, Engels, Lenin and Trotsky explained that only the revolutionary overthrow of the system and its replacement with a socialist planned economy would take humanity out of this nightmare.

Revolution, the youth paper of the International Marxist Tendency in the UK, is trying to build just such a force at Newcastle College.

We will fight against student fees, zero hour contracts, high rents, and every other attack on young people, but we will link these issues with the need to change society. Our task is to educate, agitate and organise.

Come and join us in the fight for a new society!
