Students at Newham Sixth Form College and members of the NewVic Student Activist Committee rally in solidarity with Child Q, the black schoolgirl who was brutally strip searched by Metropolitan Police at the Age of 15.
There were passionate speeches from Marxist students, who organised the rally, about how the institutionally racist and sexist police do not represent the interests of ordinary people, and in fact are an oppressive body that exists to defend private property and the Capitalist system.
Other students talked about how Newham College consciously supresses political activity and organisation, and how what happened to Child Q could easily happen in Newham College, given that the police are a regular presence in and outside of the College.
The NewVic Student Activist Committee meets every Friday afternoon in College. Get in touch if you want to help us fight for revolutionary change inside the College and in wider society!
