This book launch is being held as part of Revolution 2018 – a three-day festival of Marxist ideas, and will feature the author discussing the revolutionary and counter-revolutionary events in the period covered in this book.

Germany 1918-33 was one of the most tumultuous periods in history. Following the revolution in Russia, the German workers and soldiers attempted to seize power in November 1918. Unfortunately, the revolution was betrayed by the Social Democratic leaders.
Further revolutionary convulsions rocked Germany from 1919 to 1923, but revolutionary opportunities were missed.
This was a blow, not only in Germany, but internationally. Stalinist zig-zags between opportunism and ultra-leftism paved the way for the rise of Fascism and the victory of the Nazis, leading to the Holocaust and the Second World War with its 55 million dead.
In this book, Rob Sewell argues that the defeat of the German Revolution and the victory of Fascism were by no means inevitable. Had the German Revolution succeeded, the entire course of subsequent world history would have been different.
