Tory budget decimates our future

The savage plans announced by George Osborne in today’s budget will force young people to pay for the crisis of capitalism so that the rich can keep their mansions and their millions. We are being forced, by rich Tories and their rich friends, to pay for a crisis of capitalism that we did not cause. For people aged 18-21 the automatic entitlement to housing benefit is being cut, in essence treating Read more…

End austerity; End capitalism – why we are marching

Marxist students will be at the End Austerity Now demonstration on Saturday 20 June marching under the banner “The system is broken: fight for revolution“. In our own words, here’s why we’ll be joining tens of thousands of others on Saturday’s protest: “I’m graduating in less than a month, which should be an exciting milestone in a person’s life, but it doesn’t feel like it. We leave university with a ton Read more…

Solidarity with teaching assistants at KCL

Marxist Students have lent their support and solidarity to a campaign at King’s College London (KCL) fighting to achieve fair pay and reasonable working conditions for part-time student staff. General Teaching Assistants (GTAs) are widely-exploited by university management as a source of cheap labour, being saddled with complex duties including marking, lesson planning and seminar leading at a fraction of the wages of full-time academics. A report, published in March by KCL GTAs, Read more…
